Boston Market Corporation--formerly Boston Chicken Inc.--grew rapidly after its start in 1985. The quick expansion, however, proved to be the demise of the firm, and in 1998 Boston Market was forced to declare bankruptcy. McDonald's Corporation purchased the struggling chain of restaurants in 2000 and implemented a turnaround strategy designed to rebuild the Boston Market brand. In 2002, the company operated 650 company-owned restaurants in 28 states that offered home-style entrees, fresh vegetables, sandwiches, salads, soups, side dishes, and desserts. Boston Market also offers catering services along with frozen meals available in supermarkets through a partnership with HJ Heinz Company.

Market Bowls

This promotion ran back in the fall of 2012 and soon became a menu favorite.

Pick two of your favorite sides. Add chicken, roasted turkey or meatloaf. Sauce it up with Honey Habanero, Zesty BBQ, Sweet Thai Chili Garlic or gravy. Get make a bowl they're easy to eat anytime, anywhere.

Here are some of the combinations you can make:

  • BBQ Chicken Market Bowl: Loaded mashed potatoes, layered with sweet corn, BBQ chicken, and drizzled with zesty BBQ sauce.
  • Meatloaf Market Bowl: Top steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes with meatloaf and Zesty BBQ sauce.
  • Roasted Turkey Market Bowl: A Thanksgiving feast anytime you crave it. Stuffing and green beans topped with sliced turkey and gravy.
  • Rotisserie Chicken Market Bowl: with mashed potatoes, sweet corn and rotisserie chicken topped with rich gravy.

These are basically just loaded mashed potato bowls similar to the ones served at KFC (Got tired of paying 5 bucks for a bowl of mashed potatoes). I make these at home all the time using instant mashed potatoes, canned corn, canned chicken gravy and leftover rotisserie chicken from the deli.  Who says you can only have 2 sides? Since you are making them at home include cheese or whatever else your little heart desires.
